AI receptionist for dental offices.Picks up when the front desk can't.
Avowis answers calls to your dental office, through the lunch rush and after you close. It takes a brief reason for the call, a preferred day or time and the patient's name, then texts the message to your team. Your front desk confirms the appointment and handles any insurance questions when they call back.

The calls you can’t take. Answered while you work.
A dental front desk checks patients in, collects at checkout, walks someone through a treatment plan and chases an insurance breakdown, all while the phone rings. The heaviest call times are first thing, lunchtime and after school lets out, when every chair is full. A parent trying to get three kids in for six-month cleanings, or someone who cracked a molar on a Friday, often hangs up rather than leave a voicemail.
A new patient looking for a cleaning and exam
It takes a brief reason, asks once whether a day or time suits them, gets their name and texts the request to your front desk to confirm.
A cracked tooth, a lost filling or a crown that came off
It never says whether it can wait or what to do in the meantime. It takes a brief reason and passes it on so your team can decide how to fit them in. If the caller describes an emergency, such as heavy bleeding or a serious injury, it tells them to call 911 now.
"I need to reschedule my cleaning"
It doesn't move appointments. It passes the request to your team. With live transfer turned on, it tries to connect the caller to the front desk phone, and if nobody picks up, they're told the team will call back.
"Do you take my insurance?" or "How much is a crown?"
It doesn't check benefits or eligibility and never quotes a fee. It answers from the insurance FAQ you've approved, if there is one, and otherwise tells the caller the team will go through costs on the callback.

Thanks for calling Maple Grove Family Dental. This is the automated assistant, and this call may be transcribed. How can I help you today?
Caller
Hi, I'd like to get my two kids in for their six-month cleanings. They're 7 and 10.
Avowis
Happy to pass that on to the team. Is there a day or time that suits you best?
Caller
After 3:30 on a weekday, once school's out. Back to back if you can. Oh, and are you open Saturdays?
Avowis
We're open the first and third Saturday of each month, 8 AM to 1 PM. I'll note weekday afternoons after 3:30, back to back. And may I have your name?
Caller
Priya Raman.
Avowis
Thanks, Priya. I've passed your message to the Maple Grove Family Dental team, and someone will get back to you at this number.

Patient safety
The receptionist is not a clinician. It never gives medical advice, a diagnosis or triage. If a caller describes an emergency it tells them to call 911 now, or 988 in a mental health crisis, and stops taking the message. Otherwise it asks only for a brief reason for the call.
Your business. In your own words.
You teach it in plain words during setup, and it only uses answers you approve. For a dental business, start with these.
01
Whether you're accepting new patients, and whether you see children and from what age
02
Your hours, including early starts, late evenings and any Saturday sessions
03
The plans you're in network with and how you want insurance questions answered, in your own words
04
The treatments you offer, such as implants, clear aligners, whitening or sedation, so it can answer "do you do…?"
A few good questions.
What dental offices ask before the first hello.
Will it tell a patient whether a toothache can wait?
No. It never gives medical advice, a diagnosis or triage, and never says something sounds minor. It takes a brief reason for the call and tells the caller the team will get back to them.
Can it check a patient's insurance benefits?
No. It doesn't check coverage, eligibility or benefits, and it never asks for member IDs or insurance details. If you've approved an answer about which plans you take, it can share that.
Does it connect to our practice-management software?
No. It can't see your schedule or patient charts, and it doesn't book, reschedule or confirm appointments. It passes on a preferred time and your front desk confirms.
Will it quote prices for crowns, whitening or a cleaning without insurance?
No. It never states a fee. It tells the caller the team will go through costs when they call back.
Can billing questions go to a person?
Yes, if you turn on live transfer. When a caller asks for a person or about a payment or bill, it rings the phone you choose. If nobody answers, the caller is told the team will call back.
What happens to calls after we close?
You choose. The receptionist can answer and take messages, calls can forward to an on-call number, or the caller hears a short message and gets a text.
Is Avowis HIPAA compliant?
Avowis does not offer a HIPAA business associate agreement today. The receptionist is built to take only a brief reason for the call and never asks for medical history, records or insurance details, but you should decide whether that fits your obligations before using it.
